OKLAHOMA CITY– Members of the planning committee for the 2012 National Tornado Preparedness Summit have been named Hometown Heroes by the Oklahoma City Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) for their contribution to Oklahoma City tourism.
The Summit, held March 11-13 in downtown Oklahoma City, was hosted by the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID), National Weather Center and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
“The OID is extremely honored to have several employees named Hometown Heroes,” Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak said. “We also want to congratulate the other members of the planning committee. The Summit would not have been a success without the help of our partners in the insurance industry. Not only did the Summit allow participants from 25 states to share valuable information, but it also provided a significant economic boost to Oklahoma City.”
The Summit brought in more than 800 insurance agents, adjusters, company representatives, state leaders and insurance regulators. Nationally recognized speakers covered multiple topics, including tornado mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
The Hometown Hero awards were presented today at a luncheon in Oklahoma City.
Next year’s National Tornado Summit is scheduled for March 10-12 at the Cox Convention Center.
