OKLAHOMA CITY– Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak hosted more than one hundred of Oklahoma’s domestic insurance business leaders and elected officials today during the Oklahoma Insurance Department’s inaugural Domestic Conference.
The 2012 Domestic Conference acted as a catalyst for the CEOs, CFOs and other leaders of insurance companies chartered in Oklahoma. The goal of the event was to give industry leaders important financial information and provide feedback to elected officials on how to help foster a pro-business environment for Oklahoma insurance.
“Our Office has an open-door policy to all of you,” Doak told the attendees Monday morning. “We want to work with you in a proactive way and not just a reactive way.”
Guest speakers included Governor Mary Fallin, Lt. Governor Todd Lamb and insurance experts from the state Senate and House.
“Thank you for all that you do and I appreciate Commissioner Doak for putting on such an informative event for this industry,” Gov. Fallin said. Fallin also discussed the importance of the event, considering the recent tornado tragedies in Woodward and Norman, as well as the state’s frequency of natural disasters.
Conference topics included fostering a pro-business environment in Oklahoma, a national perspective on the status of Oklahoma’s insurance market and the accreditation process. Invited guests had positive reviews of the conference.
Dale Phillips, President of Old Surety Life Insurance: “This conference was very valuable. I had all my officers here; I look forward to the future of this event and to growing our industry.”
Brent LaGere, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Chandler Group of Companies: “I enjoyed the presentations on financial responsibility and reinsurance. The whole conference was well- organized and well-done. Getting the Governor and Lt. Governor to speak was great.”
“As your Insurance Commissioner I want to say thank you,” Doak said. “Thank you for the work you do to help protect Oklahomans.”
