New Orleans - Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak commented from the NAIC 2012 National Meeting this afternoon concerning the line of extreme weather cutting across a wide portion of the country today.
“The loss of life due to tornados and severe weather throughout our nation has been a great tragedy and our hearts go out to those families impacted by these events.” The recent storms passing through the South and Midwest regions of the United States has only highlighted the need of improved mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts.
“Combining these recent events with the unusually high amount of severe weather our nation has encountered this past year, the Oklahoma Insurance Department created an inaugural National Tornado Preparedness Summit and I would like to personally encourage participation in this event,” Doak stated.
The Oklahoma Insurance Department’s 2012 National Tornado Preparedness Summit will be taking place from March 11th -13th at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. For more information on the Summit and details on how to register for the event, please visit www.tornadosummit.com.
“We hope that the National Tornado Preparedness Summit can be used as a vehicle to increase awareness about severe weather, educating citizens and leaders on how to best prepare for these tragic events.”
