OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John Doak and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners urge consumers to take time for an annual review of their auto insurance policies.
"Building a relationship with a local agent can result in getting the right coverage at the right price, with personalized service," Commissioner Doak said Tuesday. "Of course, today consumers also can comparison-shop online at their convenience and receive quotes from multiple carriers at any time of day or night."
If a motorist chooses to shop online for an auto policy, the Oklahoma Insurance Department and the NAIC offer a number of tips to make the experience safer and easier. Commissioner Doak details these points in his most recent "Commissioner’s Corner" column, available online at oid.ok.gov. Further consumer information is available from the NAIC’s insurance education Web site, InsureUonline.org.
Should the motorist elect to deal with a local agent, Commissioner Doak suggests checking oid.ok.gov for the licensing status of the agent and company before committing to purchase and making a payment.
Oklahomans with insurance complaints or questions also can call the OID Consumer Assistance Hotline at (800) 522-0071.
