OKLAHOMA CITY – Central Oklahoma storm survivors are invited to a recovery assistance event hosted by the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID). The Recovery Roundup will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, at Southmoore High School, 2901 S. Santa Fe Ave., from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Oklahomans have filed more than 92,000 claims since May 19th, totaling more than $1 billion in insurance payments. But many consumers are still dealing with unresolved insurance claims, which is not uncommon three to four months after a large-scale disaster. The goal of the Recovery Roundup is to address those issues and find solutions.
“The Recovery Roundup comes about 90 days after the first EF-5 tornado hit the state,” said Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak. “The goal here is to resolve any problems the survivors are still dealing with so they can continue the process of rebuilding their homes and their lives.”
Insurers with 90 percent of the claims from the May tornadoes will be in attendance to meet with policyholders face-to-face. City officials from Moore and Oklahoma City will be available to answer questions about debris removal, permits and other rebuilding concerns. Survivors will also be able to meet with OID, Oklahoma Emergency Management, FEMA and the Oklahoma Bankers Association. Attendees with insurance questions are asked to bring a copy of their policy and any other documents related to their claim.
